the main story has ended -- off into the land of eugenics. I think the disease, by that point, had degenerated the author's writing ability and led to a very off-putting denouement. The book could stand on its own without the final few chapters. Nonetheless, the rest of the book is very engaging and entertaining. This is a significant book, even with its not inconsiderable flaw, in the history of LGBTQ+ writing and Queer science fiction.
